On Thursday, April 27th 2017, students majoring in Information and Forensics (LIFS) visited the National Police Agency and Naver’s headquarters.
The students who visited the Cyber Security Bureau of the National Police Agency saw the digital forensic team recover deleted evidence in cell phones, used for crime and then saw it submitted to the courts so that it could be used as legitimate evidence.
The students experimented with the investigation techniques, using criminal investigation equipment. In particular, it was a good opportunity to hear about the latest trends in current digital forensics, such as smart home autonomous vehicles, based on IoT, using artificial intelligence and embedded forensics.
In addition they visited Naver headquarters and saw the working environment and facilities of the best internet company in Korea and had time to hear about the information service and security policy directly from the CPO (Chief Privacy Officer), along with the current status of company service.
The information forensic students who participated in this visit were fortunate to be able to see theory learned during their studies, being applied in ‘real life’ situations.
Such experiences will stand them in good stead for their future careers.
