Admissions Guide for International Students


International Student Application Procedure

Please see the Hallym Admissions Guide for specific details. Generally, the application procedure is as follows:

  1. Prepare official documents
  2. Have documents notarized
  3. Prepare application form information
  4. During the application period, apply online
  5. Submit all required documents online or by mail

Eligibility Requirements

Section Eligibility Standard
For International Students who have graduated from high school International students whose parents (both) are citizens of a country other than Korea, and who have graduated from high school inside or outside of Korea
For International Students who have completed two years of high school abroad International students who have completed at least two years of high school education abroad and graduated from high school in or out of Korea
For International Students who have completed all their primary and secondary education overseas International students who have completed all their elementary, middle, and high school education overseas

General Eligibility Standard and Eligibility Criteria for Transfer Students

International applicants must be non-Korean nationals whose both parents are non-Korean nationals. Applicants must have completed at least one year of education at a university in Korea or overseas.

  1. Second-year transfer (Sophomore)
    • those students who previously completed one year of university education
  2. Third-year transfer (Junior)
    • those students who previously completed two years of university education
    • those students who previously graduated or are expected to graduate from university or college
    • those students with a qualified community college diploma

Language Requirements

For ITB  and LIFS major applicants

International students should provide evidence of English proficiency in their application package (e.g., English proficiency test scores, grades of English classes). Students from English speaking countries are exempt from this requirement.

The minimum English language examination scores are as follows: IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL CBT 190, IBT 65 / TEPS 516/ TOEIC 750 points or more.

Note: English Language is not a prerequisite for East Asian Area Studies major applicants.

For East Asian Studies major applications

International students should provide evidence of English proficiency in their application package (e.g., English proficiency test scores, grades of English classes). Students from English speaking countries are exempt from this requirement.
